Kingsmill-Moore Invitational
The T.C. Kingsmill-Moore Invitational, named in honour of the former Hist Auditor and Chief Justice, is Ireland's premier invitational debating competition. 16 elite teams are invited to participate in a one-day competition where one preliminary round is followed by a knockout format. After the quarter and semi-finals, a full dinner is served for all competitors and judges in the Hist Conversation Room in the GMB, which is followed by the Grand Final in the Chamber of the GMB. In recent years the final has been chaired by Chief Justice Murray and Senator David Norris, and has produced some outstanding speeches. The knockout format of the competition, along with its invitation of combined teams and retired speakers makes it a unique event in the debating calendar. This year the Kingsmill Moore will take place on Thursday January 22nd. This year's Kingsmill-Moore will be Chief Adjudicated by Mr Declan Bruton (Runner-Up of the Irish Mace, Finalist at the Kingsmill-Moore Invitational at the Trinity IV , Finalist of the Irish Times) If you would like to be considered for an invitation for the Kingsmill-Moore please email Jonathan (DC@TCDPhil.com) or Niall (DC@TheHist.com).
